MEET THE COUSINS (3) THE CHILDREN OF TOM & NAN GIBSON

3. THOMAS (TOM) GIBSON b 1904 - 1969

"Tom married Nan Bone, they had a son and daughter Joan (who bears a great resemblance to her Aunt Molly).  

They lived at Ferriby North Yorkshire.  Tom was a draftsman, notably he was part of the team that designed the doomed TSR2 plane.

In 1969, at the age of 65, returning home, after visiting family in Australia, as their ship docked in Southampton, Tom had a massive heart attack and passed away.

Oh how I loved these  4 cousins, and they obviously felt the same for me.

Tom and Nan's daughter Joan met and married Tom Roussel when working in Guernsey in a laboratory.  Tom owned a market garden.  They had 3 boys who all did well.  Mum and dad visited them and they came and stayed with mum.  Joan is widowed now, and in her eighties, but we still stay in touch with each other."

"Neil became an accountant.  I remember he had an Austin Healey sports car and used to take me for a spin."

"Neil and June had two children, Sara and Gavin.

Their daughter Sara was in the TA and had been home for a visit, tragically, she had an accident driving back south to work.  It is thought that she fell asleep at the wheel, as it was early morning and no other vehicle was involved.  Sadly, Sara died, and her little dog lost a leg.  Neil and June took the dog.  It was such a terrible time, and June has never been right since.

Their son, Gavin, lives in Spain, and is now in his early fifties.  He got married a couple of years ago, and in 2018 he and his wife had a baby!"

"Sadly whilst still a young man, Neil was diagnosed with MS, which over time, slowly worsens. Eventually, just over 12 years ago, Neil was admitted to a nursing home, where he remained, until 2019, dying from terminal cancer.
