Heddon-on-the-Wall is a village in Northumberland England, located on Hadrian's Wall. The village is roughly 9 miles west of the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. The place name 'Heddon' means 'hill where heather grew'.

Forster and Hannah lived in Blaydon on Tyne until 1939 at Bridge Street and Cochrane Street Blaydon.
The 1939 Register states that Forster Moore Snr was a retired Iron Finisher. It maybe that at one time Forster Snr worked at Smith, Patterson & Co., Blaydon, which was within walking distance from where he lived.
More than likely this is where Foster Moore Senior Worked |
This Manhole Cover was one of the many thing Smith Patterson produced.
In 1964 Smith Patterson's Works in Blaydon on Tyne closed its doors after nearly 100 years. The cost of refurbishing to keep up with new technology was too great. |

Auntie Margaret (Maggie) and her husband Norman were the kindest and nicest people you ever met. Uncle George would pick me up every Sunday after church and take me to the Quayside Market in Newcastle. They were not well off.

Our family stayed close to them until they passed away.
It is recorded that Forster and Hannah lived in Blaydon, first at Bridge Street, and then according to the *1939 Register at 7 Cochran Street. At this time Laidler worked as an Traffic Manager (aged 33) and Forster worked as a Grocer at the Co-operative (aged 29) - at this time both were still living with their parents at 7 Cochran Street.
On the right what is left of Cochran Street Blaydon in 2021 (No 7 must have been demolished) |
*The 1939 Register
This 'National Register' was taken on 29th September 1939 at the beginning of the Second World War. The information was used to produce Ration Books and Identity Cards. Rationing was introduced in January 1940. Identity cards were introduced during the war under the National Registration act 1939. Everyone including children had to carry an identity (ID) card at all times to show who they were and where they lived.
